Who we are
A response to the need of the time
Holy Cross Nursery Teachers Training Institute is owned and managed by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, an international religious congregation founded in Switzerland in 1856 by Fr. Theodosius Florentini, OFM Cap. and Mother Maria Theresa Scherer.
Inspired by the congregation’s motto, “The Need of the Time is the Will of God,” the Sisters have dedicated themselves to responding to the changing needs of society through education, healthcare and social service.
Recognising the growing demand for qualified pre-primary educators — and the need to empower young women, especially those unable to pursue higher education due to financial constraints — the Holy Cross Sisters of the Mid-India Province established the Holy Cross Nursery Training Institute at Holy Cross School, Lalkhadan, Bilaspur, in the academic year 2018.

What we offer
More than a professional qualification
The Institute offers a comprehensive Nursery Teachers Training Programme designed to prepare aspiring teachers with the knowledge, skills, values and confidence required for early childhood education. The programme nurtures creativity, compassion, professionalism and a genuine love for children, enabling trainees to become competent and dedicated educators.
More than a professional qualification, this training is a pathway to self-reliance and empowerment. It opens doors to meaningful employment, enabling young women to earn a dignified livelihood, support their families and make a positive contribution to society.
Through this initiative, the Holy Cross Sisters continue their mission of transforming lives by providing quality education, fostering human values and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

The congregation is founded
Fr. Theodosius Florentini, OFM Cap. and Mother Maria Theresa Scherer found the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross in Switzerland.

The Institute is established
Holy Cross Nursery Training Institute begins at Holy Cross School, Lalkhadan, Bilaspur.
